Faculty Handbook: Academic Responsibilities of Faculty
2.19  Human Participants

Any activity involving living individuals about whom information is collected (whether by interaction or intervention with the individual or using existing information if the researcher has access to identifiable data) for the purpose of developing or contributing to generalizable knowledge is considered “human subjects research.” All such studies require the prior approval of the Institutional Review Board (IRB). Information regarding protocol submission and approval can be found on the Office of Research Integrity and Compliance website, http://vpred.uark.edu/units/rscp/ or by sending an email to the IRB administrator at irb@uark.edu.
