A Message to Campus from Provost Indrajeet Chaubey - July 1, 2025

Dear University of Arkansas Community,

Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter – for me personally and, I hope, for our university.

I am truly honored to serve as your new Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and I want to take this moment to share my deep gratitude and enthusiasm for joining such a remarkable institution.

My journey in higher education began right here at the University of Arkansas. I am a proud Razorback, and it is deeply meaningful to return to the place that helped shape my academic and professional life. Now, I am excited to work with all of you to shape the future for U of A students, the communities we serve, and our state.

As Arkansas’ flagship public and land-grant university, the University of Arkansas is uniquely positioned to provide life-changing education, drive research and innovation, and serve communities across the state and beyond. As a product of the land-grant university system, I embrace this mission fully and am energized to help advance it alongside each of you.

Over the last several weeks, I have reflected on what it means to step into this role at a time when public universities face complex challenges – from shifting demographics and constrained budgets to growing societal needs and opportunities for innovation. I believe the University of Arkansas is exceptionally well-positioned to lead, and I look forward to working with our talented faculty, dedicated staff, inspiring students, and community of alumni and external partners to continue our upward momentum.

As Provost, my guiding principles will be clear: collaboration and listening, strategic excellence, faculty, staff, and student empowerment, and partnership and innovation. We will continue aligning our efforts with our 150 Forward Strategic Plan – strengthening student success, advancing research excellence, and making our university an employer of choice.

In the coming weeks, I look forward to meeting with you, visiting academic units, listening to your aspirations, and better understanding the great work that is already happening across campus. I will bring the same commitment to shared governance, transparency, and academic excellence that has guided me throughout my career. Through this collaboration, I know our path forward will be full of creative, compassionate, and impactful initiatives to meet the unique societal challenges we face today and in the future.

Thank you for the warm welcome I’ve already received, and for the trust you are placing in me to lead our next chapter. Our community has expressed a collective love for the University of Arkansas and a desire to help move it forward. I am thrilled to be back at such an important, exciting time and to begin this work with all of you.

Best,

Indrajeet Chaubey, Ph.D.
