University General Education Curriculum
Overview
The University of Arkansas’ general education program complements students' major studies with insights into artistic, humanistic, and scientific contexts, preparing them for lifelong engagement as global citizens. This curriculum equips students for facing future challenges by enhancing critical and ethical thinking, communication skills, intercultural competency, and global learning. The university's general education core curriculum must be reviewed periodically as required by UA System Board of Trustees and the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board. From 2016 – 2021, departments submitted assessment based on the course assessment conducted within the State Minimum Core domain areas. In May 2018, the Faculty Senate approved an updated General Education Program. Assessment is now conducted based on the six learning goals and eleven learning outcomes.
